Find a Program Programs. We are now looking for two PhD students in Information Systems who will research digital transformation in relation to small and medium-sized companies in Norrland to contribute to sustainable growth.

In the research subject Information Systems, the ongoing digital transformation is an important area. On an overall level, digital transformation embraces the ongoing societal and organizational changes that not least driven by the pandemic.

This means that it is important for companies to be able to restructure their operations and understand how digital technology can support their way of working in a good way. It is also the focus of this doctoral position, to understand the way in which small and medium-sized companies should prepare, act and implement digital technology so that they can achieve a digital transformation that provides benefits for their business.

Subject description The research subject Information systems focuses on the design and use of information technology in relation to humans, organisations and societies.

The subject includes studies, and development, of digital practices, resources, artifacts and systems. Tasks As a PhD student you are expected to preform both theoretical and practical work.

The research results are communicated at national and international conferences, in scientific journals and in meetings with relevant actors outside the academy. You might also be given the opportunity to try the teacher role. The current research project provides a unique opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary research group and conduct research in close collaboration with industry and civil society.

The position requires good knowledge of spoken and written communication in both English and Swedish. You have a strong interest in and preferably also experience of the research profile of the area described above. You find it easy to communicate and collaborate in groups. Selection and ranking of the applicants is done through an assessment of the prospects of successfully completing the doctoral studies. In addition to this, independence, initiative, creativity and good ability to cooperate are highly valued for the advertised position.
