Rod evans where is he now

So weird. Even if you could pull that off — in a foreign country, in a pre-blog — you could only do it once or twice before some one blew a whistle. Why would anyone attempt anything so blatantly obvious? Yes, I remember Fleetwood Mac. No repercussions? Mind-boggling that they were visibly headed for a recording session as well. I saw Captain Beyond in the mids, who were brilliant, blowing up my low expectations.

Seems it would have been a lot easier to try to rebuild that. Not a lot of sympathy for Rod here. Singers are a dime a dozen. Man, what a really, really bad decision he made. I wonder why he did that, he must've known the repercussions. Location: City of Angels. Location: Melbourne , Australia. Lord Summerisle , Jun 25, Location: here. Location: Shawangunk Mountains, NY. I never knew the story of the bogus DP. Man, that's sad. Urban Spaceman , Jun 25, Location: Tokyo, West-side Kinda cheesy that he was doing Gillan era DP songs, but a dude's gotta make a living I woulda rather seen the bogus Deep Purple Location: CT.

My friends and I were game for anything from the Purpleverse at the time. Anyhow we had no way of buying tickets to this show and whenever we called the place no one answered. Keep in mind this is pre Internet and information was hard to come by.

We conjectured that maybe this was a low key reunion show as we were fairly certain that Ritchie Blackmore was living on Long Island close by and maybe the band wanted to do a club date. This was after Dio had left Rainbow and there were rumours that Ritchie had reached out to Ian Gillan to join Rainbow so who knew. The day of the show I was finally able to get someone on the phone.

I'm pretty sure he told me it was Rod Evans and four nobodies and I'm pretty sure I told him the place could get torn to pieces if that was the case. Of course now me and my friends were completely psyched to witness this train wreck so we piled into a car and drove over. We got there fairly early, I think we walked in without paying and the crowd was already restless.

People started chanting "Blackmore, Paice and Lord" over and over. The drummer from the opening act was trying to dismantle his drum kit and get out of there before things got hot. The barstaff quickly disappeared which led to the liberation of quite a few bottles of assorted liquor. Some was consumed, some was smashed against the walls. It became apparent that there would be no show although there was no formal announcement. The bar was close to the water and there was some mumbling about creating a real life Smoke on the Water scenario but cooler heads prevailed.

There was no police presence, I saw one squad car pull up and then quickly leave. I guess the officers inside didn't want to mix it up with a couple hundred drunken disgruntled music fans.
