Mount zion what does it mean

This covenant becomes key in our understanding of the true significance of Mount Zion and all it stands for. Israel is to have no other king other than God. But in the law itself, God makes provision for the day in which they will have a human king, a king who would not replace God, but represent God to the people. This precious gift of His presence is not limited to those of Jewish descent.

When we accept Christ as our savior we are grafted into the inheritance of Zion as our place of refuge, protection, and communion with God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. He wanted to establish a good capital for his nation, so David chose this city with a strong fortress that was just 8 kilometers north of his hometown, Bethlehem.

The Jebusites had built a fortress there on a hill on the southeast side of Jerusalem called Mount Zion. Mount Zion was where David built a tabernacle and placed the Ark of the Covenant. King David placed the ark in a tabernacle on Mount Zion, which he made as a place of worship where God dwelt in the midst of His people, 1 Chron.

But as we further analyze Zion, we will come to realize that it is not merely a tangible city. It is, in fact, a spiritual city that has been part of a long prophecy of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Another importance of Zion is that it is the same as the City of David, which means it is significant because David himself is very significant — so very significant, in fact, because his lineage was the prophesized lineage of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son.

When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
