Michelin Tyre Inflator not working. This device is not for positive ground system vehicles. This particular inflator is to be used with car tyre up to 40 psi and bicycle tyre up to psi. Make sure to utilize this inflator only for car and bicycle tyres. If you want to inflate items like football or other similar things, use the adopter that is provided.
A maximum of 96 watts or 7. It is advisable not to run the inflator for more than 10 minutes. Cool it for another 10 minutes before using it. Never let your tyre inflator to get wet. Take into notice not to stretch the power cord or air hose pipe too far. I don't want to melt my wires in the car or van. Perhaps crock clips on the battery is a better idea. Then it simply will not work of the internal supply unless you use a higher rated fuse as suggested.
Beware though you risk overheating the cable and potentially having a meltdown. Personally I chose to wire my socket straight to the battery with heavy duty automotive twin core double insulated 30amp just checked cable off eBay. I fused it behind the battery box at 20amp. You agree with me on your first line. Lower resistance so current flows easier and thus increases but then you go on to contradict yourself to say on the second line the current reduces.
Have a look at Ohms law. However back to the topic, I suspect the compressor pull close to 10amps and the starting current surge which all electrical appliances do is enough just to blow the fuse.
If not the compressor will run slow and not deliver the higher pressures. I have a compressor Halfords that does not have a problem and the cables are not particularly big.
Don't know what current capability they have but probably less than 15amps. If the cable fitted in the caravan is at least the diameter of the cable that comes with the compressor, it should be OK. I changed the Cig lighter plug on it for her as the old one was too big for the socket in the DS3. However, the new plug came with a 1 amp fuse which blew immediately.
Not really surprising My own 'after market' tyre inflator has a 10 amp fuse, so this is a starting point. I'm not bothered about the fuse in the pump plug, but I'd hate to damage the wiring in the DS3 by overload. Any tips? Mullardman , Nov 10, I would not risk it. Presumably the socket on her Fiat was a "real" lighter socket, and a lighter draws a lot of current to get itself glowing red hot, while the socket on the Citroen is not for a lighter but for charging things like cellphones, which draw very little current.
To be safe you could put a pair of battery charger clips on the wires of her pump and she could clip them directly onto the terminals of the Citroen's battery. Just a thought, I may be worng PaulMB , Nov 10, IIRC, there are two sockets. One is a power outlet in Cigar Lighter stylee..
